Congratulations on your new sphynx kitten! Hairless kittens get chilly easily, and a soft shirt or sweater can help keep them comfortable. Here's how to choose the right size and help your kitten get used to wearing clothes.
Kitten sizes
- Peanut: about 3–4 lbs (10.5–11 in belly)
- Munchkin: about 4–5 lbs (11–13 in belly)
- Tweener: about 5–7 lbs (13–14 in belly), for older kittens and petite adults

Buying for a growing kitten
- Measure every few weeks. Kittens can move up a size quickly.
- Buy one or two pieces in the current size rather than a whole wardrobe.
- Between sizes? Go up one size.
Helping your kitten get used to clothes
- Pick a calm moment, like after a meal or play session when your kitten is relaxed.
- Start short. Try a few minutes at first, with lots of praise and a treat.
- Build up slowly over several days.
- Never force it. If your kitten seems stressed, take the shirt off and try again another day.
Check the fit
Your kitten should be able to walk, jump and play normally, and you should be able to slide a finger under the neckline. Check again as your kitten grows.
Keep it clean
Sphynx skin produces natural oils that rub off on fabric, so wash your kitten's clothes regularly and keep a spare in rotation.
